Christianity is a rational faith.
God created a man and lady and put them in a garden with a teaching tree. Except they couldn't eat the fruit.
God knew they would, since he knows everything. But he still had to act pissy when they did, and throw them out of the garden into perpetual toil and strife.
Now mankind was marked for disaster, no hope. So God sent another God, who was also him, but not, and also his son, down to Earth so that Man could kill the Son God. At this point the sacrifice would redeem Man to the Father God, although Man was kinda setup, at least the Father sacrificed part of his Trinity to reopen heaven.
Eventually the Son God will come back and Beasts with many heads will hang in the sky while trumpets screech, then most souls will burn forever at the beachfront property while the Son God's followers sing his praises into eternity.
I'd call that tale many things, and rational isn't one of them.

I still think that if there were such a thing as orginal sin, then religion is the punishment for it. What better way to punish humans for a few thousand years?
