A primary school teacher was reportedly banned from working with children after telling a Muslim child that “Britain is still a Christian state.”
Police were called to investigate an alleged hate crime, after the teacher reprimanded students for washing their feet in the sinks of the boys’ toilets, according to The Telegraph.
The teacher, who did not want to be named, reportedly pointed to the fact that the King was the head of the Church of England and that Islam was a minority religion in the UK.
The school sacked the teacher in February, after suspending him in March 2024. He was informed by police that he had been referred to the safeguarding board and the Metropolitan Police. The force’s investigation was dropped.
Lawyers representing the teacher in a legal claim insisted that prayers had been informally banned in the playground, which would extend to washing feet in the sinks, as a prayer room had been created. The school was not a faith school.
A safeguarding officer concluded that the teacher had made hurtful comments about Islam, and should be prevented from working with children. Three children who complained said the teacher had shouted at them, making them upset.
The ban was successfully appealed, with the teacher now suing the local authority with support from the Free Speech Union (FSU).
Lord Toby Young, FSU director, told The Telegraph: “Things have reached a pretty pass in this country if a teacher can be branded a safeguarding risk because he says something that’s incontestably true. If he’d claimed that Islam is the official religion of England, even though that’s not true, I doubt he would have got into any trouble.”

The monarchy isn’t helping. And hasn’t for decades. Including with the late Queen at the helm. And this is the fruit.
The Church of England itself probably wouldn’t identify itself as the “official church” of England at this point. They’re so watered down!
I see images of the Royal family going to church every Sunday. I often wonder how much they believe.
It will take the return of King Arthur to restore England.
Their present Neo-marxist regime is not the USA’s friend or ally.
“washing their feet in the sinks”
Because that is what people from a country called Suckistan do!
Yes and I take back my initial comment in that I don’t want to undermine what may be very genuine albeit quiet faith…Not for me to judge.
But there may have been room for more public boldness on the matter.
> the teacher had made hurtful comments about Islam <
That’s it right there. The UK has turned free speech into punishable hate speech.
But we in the United States have no room to gloat. We are, unfortunately, not that far behind.
The British monarch is “Defender of the Faith.” What faith would that be?
Truth is the first victim in a totalitarian, orwellian country.
Maybe it’s just me. But I wouldn’t dress up like a Muslim unless I were a Muslim.
If they had elections…Trump is more likely to win in Saudi Arabia or Qatar than the UK? who knew.
Teacher was kind of lucky in a way. Being merely ‘sacked’.. thrown out of her job.
Within a few years, England’s Muslim Overlords, will put such people IN a sack, beat them with clubs, then throw them from from a rooftop, and the sack pelted with rocks until what it contains is beyond recognition.
Unfortunately.
Yes the Prince Andrew situation was telling. The Firm may have been aware of a lot more sketch - more crime - than it’s letting on. Lose sight of the kingdom of Heaven in favor of the earthly one in this life…and risk losing both. Seek first the kingdom of GOD…*then* all these things shall be added…
All the best to Prince William and Catherine though as they will have the most say in how things proceed. Wish the UK well. 👑🇬🇧
Maybe I should have written “is supposed to be Defender of the Faith.” By law, the monarch, and anyone on line for the throne, has to be a Protestant in communion with the Church of England. Anyone who converts to anything else is removed from the line and the monarch would be required to abdicate. They had Catholicism in mind with this requirement, although it would also cover anything else. They used to take this seriously, but I suppose they all could just be giving it lipservice to cover the monarch if his or her personal beliefs differ. (Charles has spent some time with the Greek Orthodox at Mount Athos, too.) In any case, the legal formality and the established church would support this teacher’s point.
