More show notes: the dog did not charge the officer. The dog was just barking. The dog got out by mistake so the officer pulled out his gun. This all started because a 13 year old Muslim kid said the Rottie was chasing him yet he got home safely without being attacked or bitten. The officer who shot the dog was a man who lived next door.

I have been literately saying this for years and I will keep saying it.

We all know that islam is a death cult and criminal mafia like organization. ...do the searches and then you decide what a moslem is.

People get mad at me, but I do like dogs, but they come with a responsibility. Especially if they are large dogs. You can’t expect everyone to know your dog is friendly.

And what if they are not friendly, you won’t believe them. Seen it time after time. You wouldn’t let your teenage son to just jump on girls while you are telling people, he’s just being “friendly”, so stop expecting people to “know” your dog is friendly.

I watched the video. Here is what I could glean from the crappy reporting.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own a dog, but I like them. I don't put Rottweilers in the same category as pit bulls, even though I did for much of my life. Being chased by a dog is frightening. I have been chased by a pack of at least 20 feral dogs (at exactly the same age as that young muslim boy) and been chased by individual dogs, so I fully accept how frightening it is. But I do not feel, after watching the video and reading the story, that this shooting of the dog was appropriate. Not only was it not appropriate, it was dangerous IMO.

• The dog got off his leash.
  Leash? And the woman didn't immediately attempt to corral the dog? When you have a dog on a leash, you almost always have a visual on the dog, and you call it back or retrieve it. So I am going to judge the dog was not on a "leash" attached to a human hand, but was tied up on a line or chain of some kind tethered to something and got loose. Anyone who has owned a dog understands this dynamic. I saw my brother's dog (an extremely well conditioned mid-size dog that had either Doberman or Rottweiler in him) literally do cartwheels upside down, feet off the ground through the air in a frantic effort to get at someone who was not authorized to be on the property. And dogs do break loose. I had to try to retrieve a neighbor's dog that got loose a while back and they were unaware the dog was loose.
  
  
• The dog chased the boy but did not catch him. They gave no details that I saw on this. Was he standing outside his front door and the dog rushed onto the property? Did the kid climb a tree? How did the dog not catch him?
  
  
• The family contacted a police officer who happened to be in uniform and lived next door to them. Perhaps he just got off a shift or was getting ready to go on a shift?
  
  
• The dog was pepper sprayed before it was shot.
  
  
• Then the dog was shot.

All we see is footage of the dog barking at the guy before the cop shot it. So we can conclude this is after the dog had been pepper-sprayed.

I fully get that a dog that big and imposing is scary. I know from personal experience. But to conclude that dog barking at the cop (after the cop had pepper sprayed it) in that fashion is normal behavior for that dog is not in any way fair. I would imagine the dog is completely agitated after being pepper sprayed.

Is it possible that this kid was teasing the dog on its tether and the dog had gotten loose? In the incident described above with my brother's dog, that was exactly what happened. (In the case of my brother's dog, one of the other kids present confessed they had been teasing the dog just beyond its reach on the line and the dog went ballistic)

And what if the cop shot the dog, and the bullet went cleanly through the dog (or missed completely) and hit a bystander? There were certainly bystanders. There was one standing right near the cop videoing this, so it is possible there were more we didn't see. I think it was foolhardy.

Things do not add up in this story to me.
