It was obvious he would win as Francis rigged the process.

That’s how Steve Bannon said he would win ten days before he was elected.

108 of the 130 voting were new Cardinals under Francis. Francis put Prevost in charge of selecting Bishops to become new Cardinals. The deck was stacked.

There is as much “supportive” smoke and mirrors deception going on about the new pope as there was about Francis. Francis was overwhelmingly sold as anything other that what he really was when his reign began. And the sane will hold true with this one.

“But Vatican sources, who are impeccable, tell Newsmax he was the man to beat from the minute the conclave began.”

“So it was, and I have a clear understanding of this conclave from multiple Vatican sources.”

It reads like the author is trying very hard to convince us of his credentials.

thanks for excellent article. I am cautiously optimistic that Pope Leo XIV will lift the restrictions on the Latin mass. Praying! St. Augustine ora pro nobis

Interesting speculation, but since all are supposedly sworn to secrecy, and the ballots are burned, can we believe this?

Prevost is much better than Parolin based on what we know. I knew we weren’t going to get a Muller or Sarah, but we also didn’t get a fire-breathing Marxist.

If Pope Leo XIV wanted to be a continuation of Francis, he would have been Francis II. Instead, he sought continuity with the Pre-Vatican II Popes (as Benedict did) and did not become John Paul III, John XXIV or Francis II.

He is quiet, moderate in temperament, and inclined to diplomacy rather than diktat. We won’t get all of what we want, but the beatings should decrease substantially.

“unnamed sources say...”

Although according to the author, they are (of course!) “impeccable”.

Not that it matters much to actual Christianity WHO the pope is, it does matter to the Catholic Church since the rot, or lack thereof, starts with the pope. IF they ever get a real “man of God” in that position, the homosexuals that have infiltrated the Catholic Church, rotting it from the inside, will be running for the hills. Time will tell if this is that man.

Who is this “our Lord” guy? I hadn’t heard talk of him from the Vatican in over a decade! 🧐

The Vatican has numerous financial problems, including a $1.5 billion unfunded liability for its pension system...

The Vatican is running unhealthy annual budget deficits, as well. I would think the US church is a better place than Europe, South America etc. to look for money. A Pope born in the US might have been a big consideration for the conclave.

He is liberal-leaning on economic and social justice issues, but conservative on church teachings and traditions.

After Francis, the best we can hope for is that half a loaf is better than none.
