Church Gets Reprimanded by Denomination for Buying Gas Heaters for Building, Rather Than Using Eco-Friendly Alternatives

A church in the UK has been branded as “embarrassing” by Anglican church leaders and reprimanded by a church court after they purchased a new gas heater to heat their building, rather than seek out a more environmentally-friendly solution.

Earlier this year, Holy Church Cross in Fenham, Newcastle, needed to upgrade its heaters, which it estimated to cost $42,500. They put down a $22,000 nonrefundable deposit to purchase new gas heaters but failed to get permission from the Diocese beforehand, which was livid at hearing the news.

The Consistory Court of the Diocese of Newcastle caught wind of this purcahse and called out the church for not purchasing an eco-friendly boiler or greener alternative, arguing that this purchase would now make it more difficult for the denomination to reach its goal of net zero carbon emission by 2030.

The court Chancellor overseeing the decision, Judge Simon Wood, was highly irritated at this grave sin within the Church of England and ordered the church to enter a “carbon offsetting scheme” to make up for the emissions of the new system and draw up a “plan” to help it” “make a meaningful contribution to net zero,” according to the Telegraph.

Wood added, “This has been an embarrassing episode in the governance of Holy Cross, which it is hoped will not be repeated.”

This is nuts. Gas is clean and heats well.

If I were in that church I'd tell the higher ups some un-Christian things.

they are trying to ban gas in my state.

I remember that they were telling us a few years ago that gas was clean and cheap, and everyone should use it.

I am wondering if I should buy uranium stocks, since the big push now is electric everything.

This is bizarre for there to be a reprimand over something like this, but a public shaming over buying heaters is way beyond that.

I so agree and if I were in that church I’d give them a what-for!

"...more difficult for the denomination to reach its goal of net zero carbon emission by 2030"

Who joins the Holy Church of Gaia? They probably have lively theological debates on whether it is better to be extreme vegan or extreme green.

The Anglicans lost their marbles some time ago.

What do they expect to get that works better than natural gas? I hear coal has gone out of style.

As recently as a decade ago, the left was telling everybody to switch to "clean burning natural gas". Now they talk like natural gas is an unpardonable sin.

It's hard to keep up with what passes for leftist doctrine.

“If I were in that church I’d give them a what-for!”

And your complaints would fall on deaf ears, they would make you uncomfortable and you’d leave that church. There’s no turning around these lost people.

” Church of Gaia”

I was actually thinking that when I posted this! I was hoping I was wrong but now that someone else said what I was thinking, maybe I’m not?

No they would not make me uncomfortable. They would find out what kind of bitch I can be then I’d leave the church.

The left flip-flops as much as Harris.

Or does Harris flip-flop as much as the left?

They remind me of children — what’s fashionable and trendy today is passé and out-of-date tomorrow.

“maybe I’m not?”

You are most certainly not. The earth-worship crowd is nuts.

Talk about propaganda! Natural gas is clean, environmentally friendly, and efficient fuel. Almost
100% is converted to directly into heat without loss or pollution. It's 100% natural *and* organic.

Electricity from wind and solar is extremely inefficient. You count up the energy losses and it compares to a 15 lb 12-volt (750 amps) battery delivering the energy of an AA 1.5-volt (0.8 amps) battery.

Do the math. Include the energy cost of building and maintaining the solar panels and wind mills. Also add the replacement energy cost of replacing the solar panels after being pelted by hail. Don’t forget the energy cost of cleaning the solar panels after a dust storm.

Always remember, 99.9%s of the policy makers could not pass eight grade math (they decided talking was easier). Anything an electrical engineer tells them goes in-one-ear-and-out-the-other.

All they’re thinking is the money that can line their pockets from the Green New Deal.

Rule: If it sounds irrational, always follow the money and, please do the math.

The church should worry about the soul of man in relation to the one God, not subvert the souls of it’s congregants to worship at the feet of Gaia, I say this to the current leaders of the Catholic Church also.

The PROPER response for the church is to note that by paying more money to heat their building, they won’t have nearly as much money left to traffic illegal immigrants into the UK.

That will DEFINITELY get church management off their back.

It takes X many of BTUs to heat the church building. Abandon it. Let the congregation meet in an eco-friendly other vstructure.

To further complicate the energy issue is the fact that many church buildings have vaulted ceilings, some to 20 ft high or higher. Think of the waste of energy expended to heat the air above 6 ft that comforts not one person.
