First, according to those who believe in the mark of the beast or any end day’s prophecy it does matter, in any religion. In this case if one takes the mark, they will go to hell. It’s right in the Bible. So your first sentence is wrong.
And if god communicates well why does this thread have scores of different interpretations ? Furniture assembly instructions from ikea aren’t producing as much confusion.

For a believer, whether you think the mark is literal or figurative does not affect their salvation.
If you TAKE the mark, then yes, but no believer is not going to take the mark.
Even believers do not see clearly because Paul’s comment in 1 Corinthians 13 is written to believers.
