Why not pray?

TOPICS: General Discusssion; Moral Issues; Prayer
KEYWORDS: prayer
Why not? Have you not prayed in times of agony, strife? Have you ever prayed in times of happiness and joy?

I have had some really dark times (and i mean dark/really bad) and some really awesome ( and i mean awesome good) times fall on me.

Not going into either, it's not about me.

Let us just pray. Pray for good, pray for bad. Make it general, make it unique; do GOD'S will.

I don't want any replies thank you. Just pray.

There is no reason not to pray.

You are so right! I give praise to God for what some would consider silly. Most of us live in the lap of luxury and don’t even see it. All glory to God!

I have prayed for the Holy Spirit to enter Joe Biden. I don’t want to see anyone go to hell.

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-18

Luke 18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Yes. I’m no fan of Joyce Meyer. She’s way too Hollywood for me. But late one night I was flipping channels and I came across one of her sermons.

Meyer said something that stuck with me. She said that many folks spend too much time in prayer asking for things, and not enough time thanking for things.

Agreed. Jesus himself was in constant prayer. That should tell us something. Just imagine some of those prayers!

Your inner dialogue should include GOD.
At least that’s what I try to do.

Joyce Meyer, for all the criticism of her, has some very good things to say.

It’s the weird ones that people use against her.

The one message I heard from her that really stuck with me was that she was preaching about people whining about how they feel. She said something to the effect of *I feel.... I feel.... I feel....... If you run your life by your feelings, you might as well stamp “DESTROYED” over it right now and get it over with*.

True. As they say, "What if the only things you had today are the things you thanked God for yesterday?"
