Megachurch Puts on ‘Minions’ Themed Church Service

Life.Church in West Palm Beach, FL, kicked off their At the Movies campaign with a Minions-themed church service, showcasing how relevant they are in the most cringe way possible.

It’s not a one-off for the 85,000-member, seeker-sensitive, multi-site-based Oklahoma church that has 40 locations, but rather something they do every year. Led by Craig Groeschel, the pastor and lead visionary who is an awful preacher and habitual scripture- twister, and who recently launched the metaverse for the megachurch, their promo material explains:

At the Movies is an annual summer event at Life.Church. We decorate our lobbies in our favorite movie themes and invite friends and family. During the experience, we show snippets of popular films, and Pastor Craig creates a message based on themes from the film. It’s one of our most popular and fun series, and we look forward to it every year.

From giving away popcorn, watching Minions movie clips, decorating the church up in a Minion theme to having life sized Minions and their leader Gru hanging out and taking pictures, the maxim is clear: if the bible isn’t enough, nothing is ever enough.

What’s wrong with teaching the Bible, praying, and singing?

There were 15 worshippers at my church last week. The Bible was read, the Lord was worshipped, the Eucharist was celebrated. The Spirit of God filled His Word, our music, the Gospel, and the Body and Blood. I know where the Lord is honored and loved.

I’m with you. I am very leery of the doctrine of any “mega church”.

They need to name themselves accurately - church of Laodicea. Likely even then calling them that gives them too much credit.

A "megachurch" is not a church.

If the congregation isn't small enough for every member to know the pastor personally and be able to approach him ...

Hmm....not good for a church service, I agree. Maybe for a mid-week Bible study...not sure.

Someone wrote some Bible studies based on episodes of “I Love Lucy” and “The Andy Griffith Show.” A church I used to belong to got some of them...I have to say they were not heretical.

“What’s wrong with teaching the Bible, praying, and singing?”

That what I’m wondering. That is why I post these.

I know only one “megachurch” and it’s based in Rome. How does 85,000 members spread over 40 locations compare with a billion or so members spread all over the world?? Which one is “Mega”?

Aimee Semple McPherson

A name I’m sure we all here have heard of. Never mind what we thought of her I’d like to say something good about her. In her church she would do plays based on Bible stories. Noah’s ark, Samson and Delilah, Moses, Mary and Joseph, you get the picture. She did an outright production. My point being she brought the Bible to life. She showed these were real people who did exist at some time not just words on a page.
I think for some people the Bible starts to sound fictional when it comes to the past. Then someone like Aimee Semple McPherson comes along and reminds us that no these were real people with real lives.

My point being I wish these churches would do what she did. Bring the Bible to life. Teach them other than preaching at them. Make these people seem real like they were at one time.

(What’s wrong with teaching the Bible, praying, and singing?)

Because the Word of God offends and convicts and divides.

I was directed by a pastor to assist a new pastor on staff many, many decades ago.

This guy was always (we would find out later) promoting some book by another person. The title escapes me at this moment.

Both he and the guy who followed him, as I recall, would promise the youth of “no more than 5 minutes of Bible” for Sunday School hour. Sigh.

As you can imagine, they didn’t know much of anything about the Bible.

The first guy wound up betraying the Senior Pastor and me. I got one of the clearest Words of Knowledge I’ve ever had on that first guy. Right out of the blue.

I should have told the Senior Pastor but I don’t know if he would have believed me.

3-4 years later I was in a private personal conference with the Senior Pastor. I told him I rarely attended anymore because of that guy and I apologized saying that it had nothing to do with him, the Senior Pastor.

He then said “Let me tell YOU a story!”

It was exactly what the Word of Knowledge from the Lord has predicted.

That’s absolutely a true story.

That, an ex-girlfriend (from that church) and working for a church organization taken over by liberals almost destroyed my Faith.

I was thinking about preaching

And here came .........

Still the Lord put me to work in the midst of disaster.

Now I’m barely hanging on.....the attacks are relentless BTW
