Bishop Aaron X. Marble is the Senior Pastor or Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, who we recently covered after he did damage control of Biden’s distress debate.
In last week’s sermon, following the assassination attempt on President Trump’s life, Marbe came out swinging, blaming Republicans for the escalation of political violence, suggesting Trump brought this attack on himself, and offering that he’ll condemn the attempted murder when his antagonizers condemn January 6.
“I don’t want to be callous, I don’t want to be hard-hearted, but violence begets violence and we have seen during the campaign trail for this election and the election that former president Trump run and won, and during his presidency, that in our nation there has been a escalation of political violence… we still have seen a lack of accountability and calling a spade a spade as it related to the attempted coup on our nation on January 6.
And so I am not callous or nor I am hard-hearted, nor do I believe in any political violence toward anybody, but if you live by the sword you’re going to get cut sometime.
He continues:
…And so we we have to be careful and cautious that we do not condone and we do not celebrate political violence on any side.
And you want us to condemn and condone what happened at that rally, YOU condemn what happened on January 6. YOU condemn white nationalists and white supremist groups that cover their face and march up and down our streets you. YOU condemn police brutality. YOU condemn the violence that goes on in our community because we don’t have the resources to put kids in after school programs to have something worth doing other than running the streets.
YOU condemn that and we’ll condemn what happened at the rally, amen?… and so let us not become cowardice. Let us not back off, let us not become in intimidated, but we must continue to call a spade a spade and what is right is right.”
