What do you think is responsible for the strange dichotomy in Pope Francis? Bending over backwards to please James Martin and the Lavender Lobby inside the Vatican and yet twice recently complaining of the air of “faggotry” inside the Vatican. I think in a way he has gotten to the point Benedict got to at the end of his papacy, realizing that the homosexual cabal is too strong in the Church.
I think he has always spoken out of both sides of his mouth ... early in his time sitting in Peter's Chair, many folks (self included) tried to give him every possible benefit of the doubt and interpret his often confusing comments in light of orthodox Catholic faith. He has made this impossible for me to continue doing.
We believe that "papal infallibility" is a particular charism, a gift of the Holy Spirit, that prevents a pope from formally proclaiming heresy. I suggest as a possible explanation, that perhaps there is a sort of internal struggle between what he wants to do, and what Holy Spirit is preventing him from doing.
