I remember going to my Grandmother’s Methodist church. The preacher would be preaching what must have been a hellfire and brimstone sermon because all the old timers were shouting “AMEN”, “Yes that’s right” and “preach on” you know stuff old folks used to shout out.
I just don’t know what happened to that denomination.
I remember those guys. They started dying off several decades ago and were replaced, first by people who went to seminary to avoid the draft or to become civil rights activists, and then by clergy who think of themselves primarily as psychologists, social workers, and advocates of the latest social justice causes.
