I’d be careful listening to a poster who is not Catholic, yet claims Bergoglio was “duly elected”.

The Rapture theory with a couple of verses taken out of context is believed by a small minority of believers who’ve been brain washed by folks like Hal Lindsley, the author of the Left Behind series. The Rapture is fake theology and somewhat dangerous in making those believers so Heavenly minded they’re no Earthly good.

I’ve heard it said that no one knows when that:
1. Day
or
2.Hour may come.
Matthew 24:36

So if the rapture is predicted to happen sometime during a 2 day feast, then if it doesn’t happen on the first day of the two day feast, then still, the hour that it would happen would still be unknown for the 2nd day of the feast.

I would say, regardless of what side of the rapture/second coming tribulation debate you fall on, from one day, to the next..... To be wise, and keep your “jars of oil” filled, and your wicks trimmed. Matthew 25: 1-13

“...it’s the same mantra decade after decade but with different preachers.”

My old man was into it as well. I still have the book he sent me about how the rapture was to happen in 1988. Although I’m glad my dad was ready for the rapture - he died in 1988 after a short illness. Hmm....

“I am happy for this discussion. I learn from it.”

Our pastor did a long sermon series on theology and various beliefs regarding certain things. Some are absolute (Triune God, Christ’s death and resurrection for our sins, etc.)

Other things he said we need to come to our own understanding on, back it up with scripture, and reason with other Christians to inform them and learn ourselves. The rapture was one of those issues.

He said the four ministers at the church all had different views on the rapture! But that led to healthy discussions, done with respect and love and knowledge. (Although I WAS encouraged to hear that my beliefs on it fit with the lead pastor doing the preaching!)

You don’t help your position AT ALL by posting such ridiculous assertions like you did in post 92. If you got that wrong, you must know next to nothing about Seventh-day-Adventists or where the Rapture Theory came from.

Again, as an SDA, here is my position on the Rapture, as I previously posted to Ealgeone:

JOHN NELSON DARBY developed his rapture theory from information indirectly gotten from Jesuit priests to counteract the Reformers claims that they were the antichrist power...the dispensationalist rapture theory comes from JESUITS. It is fake, made up, a lie, (crafted to deceive).

THAT is a complete 180 from what you posted about SDA’s.

Oh, and you say believed by a small minority of believers, etc...? Much more than you think. Most who consider themselves Evangelicals believe it, and every Christian has heard of it in one way or another. All it takes is a catalyst, and they are ALL IN.

——>I don’t know if every reformer believed it but I’d say it was a popular idea.

Millions were tortured and murdered by the Papacy BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IT. They gave their lives rather than bow to Satan’s bidding. Many were just slaughtered. It’s a matter of DOCUMENTED HISTORY, which anyone can simply read for themselves, if they even care about the truth.

Again, HERE is what they believed:

“The verses used to prove some sort of Rspture are verses talking about the 2nd. Coming. Nothing else. Verses used to prove some sort of Rapture are those thar refer to the 2nd. Coming and are taken out of context.”

Exactly right. As believers, we are the salt of the earth. There is no way God prepares us for the difficult times to come and then whisks us out of here on a magic carpet. We are here til the end and are meant to be the light of the world in a very dark time.

The way I look at it is like this: We’re Ruptured up and we meet saints of bygone era’s, martyrs, and they ask us, so, how were you martyred? What hardships did you endure for the faith. You’d (editorially speaking) say “well, I was in the Walmart parking lot with a basket full of food, some frozen, a very hot day and the air conditioning in the car wouldn’t work” Something like that. They’d look at you with a puzzled look and slowly back away from you.
