I think he’s more of a motivational speaker. I’m not sure what his motivation really is but he doesn’t get into the Pastoral Realm and if he does it isn’t very often nor for any appreciable duration.
When his father, who was the previous pastor, died, Joel’s mother begged him to take over. He told her he wasn’t called to preach, but she begged him to do it anyway, and he relented. The rest is history.
