Why is Jerome’s Vulgate relevant here? Did someone bring it up?
As far as I’ve seen, we on the Catholic side of this debate have been citing the Greek NT.
Then you are admitting that the Catholic Church changes its position as time goes on? Are you saying that the Catholic Church never subscribed to that Vulgate translation as giving it authority?
It is most certainly relevant since Catholics claim a continuous succession of popes, etc. and continuous authority.
