Do you believe in John 20:23?

Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
[John 20:23]

Who do you confess your sins to, metmom?

God.

i John 1:9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He promised that if I confess, HE would forgive and cleanse.

I believe Him. Don't you?

FWIW, even supposing Catholic's claims are true, there are no apostles left alive to retain or remit sin.

Deflecting again, eh?

Why is it no Catholics will ever address the blatant, egregious disobedience of Christ’s clear, concise command to not address religious leaders as *Father* and not only call their priests that but require the laity to use the term also?

What kind of *church* demands it’s adherents sin to egregiously?

If you believe John 20:23, to whom do you confess your sins?

Care to explain all the kneeling Ebb?

Is kneeling beneath you, torch?

Jesus Christ knelt.

41 And he was withdrawn away from them a stone's cast; and kneeling down, he prayed,  42 Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done. Luke 22

Since you're REALLY INTO this - your latest diversion to avoid scriptural truths that are so obvious to everyone but you. You don't know God's Word - you parrot whatever you're told by your cult leaders.

1 John 1:7 (the blood of Jesus is effectual) is from God’s perspective, verse 9 (God cleanses us when we confess our sin to Him) is from the Christian’s perspective. Catholics (in ERROR) think they need some kind of intermediary, and some kind of "penance" apparently because the blood of Christ is insufficient. At least that's the implication of "3 Hail Marys", 2 "Our Fathers", and a good "Act of Contrition". (I don't care what you say in response, btw.)

I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah Psalm 32:5

When we confess our sins to God, we are agreeing with what God’s Word reveals about us.

What does it mean to confess our sins? The word confess is from the Greek verb homologeō, meaning “to say the same thing.” Logeō means “to say” and homo means “the same.” You are to say the same thing that God says. When God, in His Word, says that you are a sinner, He wants you to see the fact exactly the same way He does. When you confess your sin, you are saying, “You are right, Lord, I agree with what You say. It is sin.”

That is what it means to confess your sins.

We also confess our sins to one another when we've offended each other - but that is not for God's forgiveness (and its not what you do in your box), it is to restore relationships. It is a part of the repentance that God wants from us.

“Our Father in heaven (n.b. this is not one our your "priests)...forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Matthew 6:9-12

Now, you'll write "What about John 20:23? I need my 'priest'!"

First, and foremost, only God can forgive sins. Christ is God and, being God, He has the power to forgive sin as well. He never assigned any such power to His disciples. Plus, they never assumed they had such power and never exercised such authority. To understand the meaning of John 20:23 you (ebb tide) must read the previous two verses:
“Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

He sent them, as He is sending Christians today to bring the "good news" of the ONLY way to salvation.
At the moment, Jesus was leaving the earth and promised the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide believers, once they have trusted the finished work of Christ (and nothing else) for salvation and the forgiveness of their sin.
As we (Christians) proclaimed the gospel, we tell people who believe that their sins are forgiven. Jesus was telling His disciples this very same thing. They could honestly tell people who did not believe the gospel that their sins were not forgiven...and that their condemnation would be certain.

I predict that you'll come back with some more of your erroneous understanding of God's Word. Have at it. You've been told already, you now have accountability for your response. Failure to respond to the gospel is your downfall.

See kinsman redeemer' post #133.

Why aren't you chastising him?

Could it be hypocrisy?

Here’s the difference, Jesus knelt before His Father in Heaven. I also kneel before my Father in Heaven.

You and your associates kneel before statues, priests, popes, and Mary. Which is ALL unbiblical.

1 Timothy 4:7-9
King James Version
7 But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

Speaking of kneeling, is it custom or tradition that altar boys “kneel before priests” in dark hallways and closets?

"Again he sent a third captain of fifty men, and the fifty that were with him. And when he was come, he fell upon his knees, before Elias, and besought him and said: Man of God, despise not my life, and the lives of thy servants that are with me. [4 Kings (2 Kings) 1:13]

Care to explain, torch? Are you going to claim Elias was a sex pervert also?

Just one more example of the hypocrisy of prots.

“Spotlight” is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer. It tells the story of The Boston Globe’s “Spotlight” team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative journalist unit in the United States, and their investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Catholic priests.0 The film stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, and Liev Schreiber.1 In 2001, editor Marty Baron of The Boston Globe assigns a team of journalists to investigate allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys.2 The investigation led to the revelation of a massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.1

Ebb claims satan does a lot of things. It’s his/her go to. S/he is very confused…and also loves to capitalize satan, lucifer, etc.

Why does your cultist house of horrors provide cover for rapists?

Why do they move these rapists from one so called “parrish” to another? For new victims? Your cult is guilty of sex trafficking children. Are you OK with that? Are you OK with your cult using the money that is collected from brain washed followers to pay victims parents as hush money? Isn’t this theft? Using money that your cult claims is to advance God’s church, and then use it as a pimps profit? Is that acceptable to you?

Why do you condone theft? Not only theft but stealing from God? And to collect it in His Name! To pay hush money to rape children!
