That “fascination” usually happens here as a result of a grudge or revenge over a “Protestant” thread seen as critical of anything about the Roman Catholic church. Seldom will you see them answer the simple question about which is superior in authority if there is a conflict or contradiction between church doctrine and Holy Scripture. They just can’t seem to wrap their heads around the idea that the church should be in submission to God’s divinely-revealed word and not the other way around.
