“Thieves With No ‘Respect for the House of God’ Swipe 5-Ton AC Unit From Atlanta Church” Even at lifting 100 lbs. each, you still need 100 of them. Must have been one kick-butt unit.

Maybe I missed the /S tag, but 5 tons is not the weight. It's the amount of cooling power. 5 tons is 60,000 BTU.

A 3 bedroom might have 3 ton unit.

“A 3 bedroom might have 3 ton unit.”

Our 3BR rancher is 3948 sq ft. We currently have one 5 ton unit and one 2.5 ton unit.

We’re going to replace the old 2.5 ton with a 5 ton when we can. But we are in Texas where it’s been over 100 almost every day since late June. The 2.5 ton unit just isn’t cutting it.

To be technically correct, 5 refrigeration tons is 60,000 BTU/hr.
