One of the most prominent Christian YouTube channels right now is Redeemed Zoomer who stands at a whopping 125K subs on the platform. His most popular content is animated explainers on Christianity. However, he is also working on an ambitious plan to save apostate denominations. Redeemed Zoomer believes that protestants can reconquer these denominations by outlasting the heretics. Thus, the more beautiful church buildings in more prominent real estate will be restored to Bible teaching. On Conversations That Matter, Redeemed Zoomer made a compelling case for his Reconquista strategy, and he is active in this effort in the Presbyterian Church USA. Ultimately, Redeemed Zoomer wants to restore the PCUSA to adherence to the Westminster Confession of Faith. However, Redeemed Zoomer has some internalized liberalism that undermines his ability to achieve this outcome in any meaningful way.
It became apparent when he posted an affirmation of the Big Bang. It’s worth noting that the Big Bang is not compatible with a day-age interpretation of Genesis 1 nor Young Earth Creationism as the plants preceded the stars.
Nonetheless Redeemed Zoomer derided Christians for opposing the Big Bang as making Christians look stupid. He further goes on to compare Young Earth Creation to gender studies.
All of this culminated into an attack on orthodox Christianity.
The irony is tangible as Redeemed Zoomer is denouncing modernism as a cancer to Protestantism despite the fact that he is a modernist himself. His views on theistic evolution are the direct result of modernists infiltration in the church, not a natural reading of the text. Theistic evolution is a syncretism with Darwinian Modernism and Christianity, only it cannot truly serve either master. Modernism’s impact on the church was a direct attack against the supernatural claims of the Bible, the key examples including: the bodily Resurrection, inerrancy of Scripture, the Virgin Birth, and 6 Day Creation.
If Young Earth Creation is true, Redeemed Zoomer would call God a deceiver for making the earth look older. This would have made every previous generation before Darwinism willfully deceived by God for they had no means of knowing how old the earth looked. The Young Earth Creation answer is a mature earth just as Adam and Eve were made mature humans, so too did God create an adult world. Jesus would go on to make a mature wine as his first public miracle at the wedding in Cana thus further showing God’s ability to create at maturity.
The former secular leftist has not discarded his secularism, as plainly demonstrated by his tongue and cheek endorsement of Darwin. Additionally his affirmation of the Confession of 1967, a liberal PCUSA confession that decries world overpopulation. Despite this the only faith statement he touts that addresses Creation is the Westminster Confession of Faith which states:
It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create or make of nothing the world, and all things therein, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.
Westminster clearly affirms a six day creation in direct contrast to Darwinian evolution. Conclusion
Internalized liberalism is a major problem in the church today, whether its feminism, evolution, or views on Scripture. Redeemed Zoomer has internalized liberalism and furthermore called Christians who deny Darwin stupid. It’s reminiscent of liberals who leave the left after they are no longer in the preferred victim class and want conservatives to be like them because they figured it out. The Reconquista of apostate churches will not be fruitful if they are ultimately still disdaining fundamentalism and promoting Darwinian evolution.

Nonetheless Redeemed Zoomer derided Christians for opposing the Big Bang as making Christians look stupid. …Oh? Guess RZ never heard of Georges LeMaître.
I've seen that very argument many times right here on FR.
Some people simply cannot let God be God but they measure Him and pass judgment on Him with their own sense of justice and truth.
Oh my.
News flash: you can both accept evolution AND believe Darwin was full of crap AND anything that even hints at neo-Darwinism is wrong. I said this on a forum dominated by atheists and was booted for little more than blasphemy.
Young earth creationism necessitates acceptance of some form of Simulation theory, be it secular a la Scott Adams or religious a la “things were made to look older than they really are”. Maybe they’re true.
The assessment with the most explanatory power is that the earth was created 4.5 billion years ago by a loving Heavenly Father who used 100s of millions of years to create fossil fuels for our use.
Amen to that! Besides, God had a pretty good time playing with dinosaurs for 300 million years until He got tired of them and threw an asteroid at the earth, so he could create human beings. God was kind enough to get rid of those dinosaurs before he created us. I am very thankful that every time I go out my front door I don't have to worry about a T-Rex or a velociraptor.
or a Komodo Dragon for the most part. :)
Glad I don’t live where the Komodos are too. And alligators for that matter.
Yeah a few leftovers from the Dino Days.
Agreed. I’m not totally in the evolution camp. However, the bible isn’t clear and frankly it has absolutely no relevance to Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for our sins.
We know there were dinosaurs from the fossil records. We know there were large dinosaurs and other unthinkable animals. If they had been around with Adam, Noah, and Moses, I think something might have been recorded.
Bottom line, Young Earth, Old Earth doesn’t change the Gospel message. Calling people heretics for their belief on this topic is arrogant and no different than the Pharisees. It doesn’t really matter what happened before Adam was formed.
“In the Beginning...We Misunderstood” is a book that changed my mind about the necessity of interpreting Genesis 1-2 as six twenty-four hour days.

Here is a short description:
When faced with the choice between the Bible as the “literal” word of God and the apparently incontrovertible findings of modern science, many contemporary Christians have tragically walked away from their faith in God and Scripture. Most frequently, their unresolvable concerns center on the words and interpretations of Genesis, chapter one.
Having experienced this intellectual and spiritual tension, Dr. Johnny Miller and Dr. John Soden are uniquely suited to provide intellectually torn Christians with a rationale framework that addresses many seemingly irreconcilable issues. Miller and Soden begin with the pivotal question that other authors rarely ask, much less start with-the most important question of all: What did Genesis mean to the original author and original readers.
Conversant with the apparent incompatibility of science and Scripture, Miller and Soden use their expertise in biblical interpretation to present and demonstrate clear and credible principles by which this conflict should be properly evaluated and biblically harmonized.
Yep.
When Jesus says “I am the door” does that mean he’s saying that he is an actual door, or a figurative door? Obviously the latter.
3rd way
Is dressed up atheism
There’s only two choices
Indeed. But you don’t have to go to the NT to find good reason for reading the Creation account differently.
Well, the “Big Bang” was originally postulated by a CATHOLIC PRIEST, so of course all the splinter groups that grew out of the Catholic Church, and then THOSE splinter groups, will have issues with it...
Good grief, how stupid is THIS argument?
The world was created in 6 days. It is very possible if read literally.
Jesus said eat my flesh, drink my blood,... the bread of everlasting life. Then repeated it as men walked away. Only possible to read that one way.
The length of the day is not mentioned, and there is also the statement elsewhere that “a day is as a thousand years”
