“MICHELANGELO DI LODOVICO BUONARROTI SIMONI (1475 – 1564), known as MICHELANGELO, was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the High Renaissance. His work was inspired by models from classical antiquity and had a lasting influence on Western art. Michelangelo's creative abilities and mastery in a range of artistic arenas define him as an archetypal Renaissance man, along with his rival and elder contemporary, Leonardo da Vinci.

“Michelangelo achieved fame early; two of his best-known works, the Pietà and David, were sculpted before the age of thirty. Although he did not consider himself a painter, Michelangelo created two of the most influential frescoes in the history of Western art: the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and The Last Judgment on its altar wall.

“In his lifetime, Michelangelo was often called Il Divino ('the divine one'). His contemporaries often admired his ability to instill a sense of awe in viewers of his art. Attempts by subsequent artists to imitate the expressive physicality of Michelangelo's style contributed to the rise of Mannerism, a short-lived movement in Western art following the High Renaissance.

With artists producing so much biblical art as an adjunct to the text, even if much of it does not reach Michelangelo’s lofty standard, we have wonderful resources available which the Spirit can employ to inform and strengthen our faith.

I'm not certain it exists yet. The rebel angels were cast down to the earth, and some are confined in the Abyss, where Satan will be locked up for 1,000 years. No humans are in hell yet, because first they must face the Last Judgment.

WC Fields was on his deathbed when a friend visited. He was astonished to find Fields, a notorious skeptic, reading the Bible. The incredulous friend asked, "Why?"

Fields replied, "Just looking for loopholes."

That's what that ol' Serpent has been doing ever since the Ascension.

The other three prophets shown immediately above and below—Isaiah, Ezekiel and Jonah—are all shown full-sized, accompanied by one or more diminutive angels. So, that’s my take on Daniel, too.

My question is, who is that behind Daniel?

It is an excellent piece of art, as are all of his other works, but it leaves a lot of questions
maybe if we pondered it long enough, we would understand what Michelangelo was describing

I am glad to learn that he was a Christian. I am also surprised that he lived a very long life, especially for that period.
