Ok, how does one determine in advance if a person prophesying is speaking for God or speaking for himself?

Like Chuck Missler said be a fruit inspector. Do things they say come true? Ask God also if it is true. Check out other prophets so see if they agree. Some prophecies have not come true after 3,000 years but I think some of them will. It is not easy but trust in God, ask God for guidance.
