Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark has entered the fray with a different argument: That people should voluntarily forgo their Second Amendment rights for the betterment of society.

As soon as the Cardinal forgoes his First Amendment rights.

Ask the thug criminals and thug govt agents to do so first. See how that works out.

This level of totalitarianism passing itself off as enlightened Christianity is ridiculous.

Everyone who disarms ignores their responsibilities to their families. And thus, more indirectly, society as a whole.

Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

I think the temporal religious leader has it all wrong.

Stupid. The ones that will voluntarily give up their weapons are not the cause of gun violence.

Uh....NO!

My job is to protect my family, NOT to capitulate to criminals.

How about asking Catholics to avoid Adultery, which includes homosexual behavior.

And maybe toss in a reminder not to procure, perform, or promote Abortion?

Finding it difficult to even believe he said that. Must be a hoax. So, some of us don’t believe catholicism (and especially islam) should be allowed to exist in the United States, how about the “padre” and his followers quit catholicism voluntarily? Wonder what his reply to that would be? Well?

Allowing his flock to be helplessly under the control of teens, thugs, drug crazed criminals and violent felons allowed out of prison is......immoral and sinful.

I assume he is kissing up and pandering to the woke crowd to seem non-judgmental, stylish, trendy and up to date -—or he may be expressing his true feelings and being honest.
If somebody says the trend is mothers being part-time prostitutes and fathers setting up heroin selling out of their homes, would the religious leaders go along to be popular and modern?

“Since 1970, weekly church attendance among Catholics has dropped from 55% to 20%, the number of priests declined from 59,000 to 35,000 and the number of people who left Catholicism increased from under 2 million in 1975 to over 30 million today.”

and

Washington D.C., Mar 29, 2021

“The percentage of Catholics who say they are a “member” of a church has dropped by nearly 20 points since the year 2000, according to a new report by Gallup released on Monday.

Among respondents who said they were Catholic, only 58% actually said they were a member of a church. This figure is down 18 points from the 76% of Catholics who said they were a member of the Church, in a previous Gallup survey from 1998-2000.

In the past decade, Catholics saw a twice-as-steep decline in members than did Protestants, which saw a 9% decline in professed members of churches from 73% to 64%.”

This is the same guy who ignored his predecessor’s history of sexual abuse . And he mocked Archbishop Viganò when Viganò tried to bring it to light. So it would seem to me that Cardinal Tobin should spend less time lecturing us, and more time in quiet contemplation of his own failures.

Cardinal Joe is a D-bag.

Hope he knows the reason for his Bible better than the reason for US Constitution.
