To: Hebrews 11:6
At the time I said the same thing here on FR and was chided (rightfully) for my eisegesis--reading my own meaning into the text--rather than taking the intended meaning from the test--exegesis.

Babylon as godless world system. Augustine's "earthly city", doomed to destruction. NYC is a temporary, local and imperfect instantiation of Babylon.

Having now had 22 years for consideration, it seems likely to me that the prophesied event will dwarf what we saw then.

"Fire next time."

The further along in life I get, the more I see how the world works, the less I like it. And the more I think it will all be swept away.

the more I see how the world works, the less I like it

♫ This world is not my home
♫ I'm just a-passin' thru
♫ My treasures are laid up
♫ Somewhere beyond the blue

♫ The angels beckon me
♫ Through heaven's open door
♫ And I can't feel at home
♫ In this world anymore
