The concern was raised as Glasgow councillors discussed a report on council efforts to boost equality.
A book claiming being gay is a “sin” has been used in a religious Glasgow high school, a councillor has warned, despite efforts to boost LGBT rights.
Trained teacher Fiona Higgins expressed her concern about the teaching materials being available in the city’s schools, which express views that “oppose” LGBT rights.
The Labour councillor said the content had upset some “pupils” in the Catholic school while a council officer said they are working with headteachers to encourage the use of “appropriate materials” and admitted there are “challenges”.
Speaking at a council meeting last week, councillor Higgins said: “I’ve seen some incredible work in LGBT inclusion.
“I was surprised to see some of the material when I worked in one denominational school.
“The ‘Called to Love’ curriculum which teaches Catholic values, much of which are very commendable, but still includes chapters on how marriage should be between a man and a woman and how homosexuality is a sin.”
Councillor Higgins, who didn’t name the school, added: “I know this caused upset to a number of my pupils. I didn’t teach that chapter but pupils tend to go for a look through the books when they know it is there. These contents and materials in Glasgow City Council schools still are concerning and are opposed to the TIE values and the values we say we have in Glasgow City Council. It is worth reviewing that.”

It’s a RELIGIOUS school!!!
I know! I wish these deviants would just get back in the danged closet and stay there!
Homosexual acts are sinful....*always* sinful. So of course a *genuinely* Christian school would teach that.
I realize now how something like the Salem Witch Trials happened.
Historians now want to blame men, but I suspect it was really busybody, self-righteous Karens who ran around stirring everybody up.
“includes chapters on how marriage should be between a man and a woman and how homosexuality is a sin.”
Of course. Why wouldn’t it?
This is the part that I just can’t wrap my head around…
We are all born “sinful”. We have desires for acts, things, behaviors that are “bad for us”. These are unhealthy, have really nasty consequences, and will hurt others that we care about. All of us fall short.
Having homosexual desires is not a sin. Indulging in homosexual activities and behaviors is a sin. These behaviors are s destructive to a healthy community.
Therefore, it should, in my opinion, not be celebrated, encouraged, or held up for admiration in the common square. We should not punish those unfortunate people who haven’t figured out how to control such urges, as we shouldn’t persecute those who engage in other forms of sexual license. Those who can’t or won’t control their sinful urges should be respectful of others, and keep it in the closet.
It is a failure to come to terms with unhealthy behaviors. We are all guilty and we shouldn’t cast that first stone, we shouldn’t accept sin as desirable, normal, celebratory, either. Neither ours or theirs.
I think Jesus would tell us to “go and sin no more”. I don’t think he would join in and march in a gay pride parade.
But, I know others will disagree with me, and find me intolerant. Please just know that I am also struggling with my own sinful nature,
Marriage truly is between a man and woman only. Anything else is a counterfeit.
You know, there’s a lot of money to be made by subtly mocking the leftists in children’s literature
“A book claiming being gay is a “sin” has been used in a religious Glasgow high school...”

The Bible?
Is the book in question the Bible?
Yeah, that was my first thought.
I think eventually this whole sexual deviance thing is going to go the way of alcoholism and smoking. They were both so accepted in the past that the U.S. military distributed rations of beer and cigarettes, and the behavior’s fashionable front edge was celebrated in movies.
Prohibition didn’t work; but finally society has acknowledged that excesses in those behaviors are harmful, and merit counseling and rehabilitation where possible. Some companies can even mandate it for alcohol or drugs if the user wants to stay employed.
This one is going to be harder to transform, but sanity eventually wins out. I don’t envy the next few decades of children, youth, dating, and parenthood, however.
