Point is, it doesn’t matter. Belief matters. Trinkets are just that.

History matters.

The nativity was a real, historical event. Jesus was born a boy, not a girl. He was born in a real place, at a real time. It’s not a fable.

Jesus’ ministry was a real, historical series of events. He did them in a real time, at real places. It’s not a fable.

Jesus’ crucifixion was a real, historical, event. It happened at a real place, at a real time; real people committed it, real people witnessed it. It’s not a fable.

Jesus’ resurrection was a real, historical event. It happened at a real place, at a real time. Real people witnessed His appearances after His resurrection. It’s not a fable.

Archaeology and the preservation of relics remind us, who are very distant from these real historical events, that they are in fact real and historical.

Some people say they “have faith” and “don’t need archaeology, history, and relics”. To them, I say “bully for you”. Maybe I don’t need them either. I still appreciate the archaeology, history, and relics.
