Thank You etabeta; I was wondering about those. Surprising that they have not been looted for the metal value.
I think that in the Middle Ages petty theft was common but not the stealing of these kind of art works. Punishment was very harsh, either by public humiliation, flogging or mutilation. Maybe the thieves of those times did not have the “sophistication” of today’s thieves.
