What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

Sounds like it was the eunuchs who did her in. At his behest. I noticed that too. Made me think that she had probably treated them badly or that they had first hand knowledge of what an awful person she was and jumped at their chance to get rid of her. Of course that meant they were out of a job, but maybe Jehu rewarded them in some manner.

The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, “Go look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat. Take him into an inner room. Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, ‘This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.’ Then open the door and run; don’t delay!” I find it interesting that even though God ordered Elijah to anoint Jehu, he never got around to it and left it Elisha. And even Elisha didn't do the actual anointing himself, but ordered a young prophet to do it. There's is something in all this to draw out, I'm sure, but I haven't thought it through very deeply yet.

Thanks very much, Dan - a most impressive array of Biblical Art. I used the Corbould a few years ago in a Peace of Jerusalem thread:

Action-packed, Tom. Looks like he took a pack of dogs with him on his adventures—you just never know when a pack of voracious canines might come in handy.
