One reason why I left the church years ago. But a popular church here in my city was being sued by men who were molested by priests, (one of them married my husband and I), when they were altar boys in that particular Catholic Church. This church along with other churches across the nation became a big scandal and an embarrassment for the Vatican. The church ended up paying through the nose. I guess the church forgot about that little detail! Don’t know how true but if they were molesting young boys then I would think the majority were practicing homosexuals.
Its your church too. It doesn't belong to the perverts.
Quick story. I knew a priest who oversaw all of the local Catholic high schools in our midwest-city diocese. Former WWII Marine, was in Iwo Jima. I knew him later in life. Quiet, no-nonsense guy
One story I was told after his death: He got reports of another priest in a high school who was acting strangely - one story I heard was this priest offered boys to wrestle him instead of being punished for some school infraction. Regarded as a weirdo from friends who attended that school.
My priest friend called this offending younger priest into his office for a private meeting. He told him: "if I hear one more story like this, I will personally beat the shit out of you."
The offending priest left the priesthood six months later. Yes, he came out as an open homosexual.
And there was never any scandal among any of the schools in the many years which my friend oversaw them. His funeral was attended by several hundred people.
