Excellent perspective. Thanks for contributing it. Hoping everyone notices....
Thank you for your constancy in searching for and providing us with these works. Thanks, also, for explaining how the Holy Spirit inspired your endeavor through the four thoughts that came into your mind after reading about “the tent peg” and seeing your own daughter, Susanna’s spiritual resemblance to the biblical heroine. God bless you, Hebrews 11:6, and your ministry of showing to us the Holy Bible through art.
Good Morning, Dan.
:-)
My "constancy", as you put it, is a given, inasmuch as God commissioned me and also equipped me: it is my complete joy producing this series, because--as I have discovered--when God commissions, He also motivates.
Indeed, there are about six different functions involved in production, and I've learned that God created me to enjoy thoroughly each one. The result: everything about this is fun for me!
Dan
So true, Dan! Even your reply nourishes my soul with joy! Thank you!
My tagline box won’t work, so I’ll simply add it here:
“Preach the Truth as if you had a million voices. It is silence that kills the world.” —St. Catherine of Siena
Agreeing. These posts are a blessing.
You’re a poet too? :-)
Our Lord has so very many blessings He wants to shower down upon us! And they are just the merest whiff of our heavenly banquet....
When properly inspired....
I'm inclined to think that Goliath lost the fight when the stone met his forehead, but he didn't lose his life until David used his own sword on him, as illustrated by Michelangelo and others.
He had it coming either way.
Thanks for doing this every day.
King David of Jerusalem,,,
It is lovely the way that David explained--in advance of the main event--how God had prepared him. God is preparing each of us for the main events in our future....
My current plan is to illustrate David’s coronation on the 25th. We have a few tussles remaining with King Saul before then....
One better than the other. I like the Orazio Gentileschi a lot (#15) and that marvelous stained glass window by Edward Burne-Jones.
All the illustrations are very good, maybe the litho by Gino D’Achille (#3)which for me stands out. David and Goliath facing each other on a rocky stage, the sky reddish and the troops far away. One can sense how the confrontation is for now only between a giant and a boy. Very theatrical.
I, too, like it when the extraneous is minimized and the focus is on the central drama.
I visited King David’s
Tomb during a 10 Pilgrimage
To the Old City. I wandered
the City with a Bible and a
Camera Absolutely Awestruck
