Notice the way David's hands point to Saul's brooding, dark, and evil face. The use of light from Saul's own right foot, thigh, and shoulder draw the eye to that same face.
Where David's farthest pointing/strumming left hand is highlighted by the light at Saul's left knee...almost an upside-down exclamation point!
The coloring is beautiful as is the stark difference btwn David and Saul's face(s). (Saul also has the spear poised)!
Perhaps Saul should hesitate before chucking his spear at someone who wears a leopard-skin and beheads giants....
#17 is also my favorite of this collection
it is a powerful piece on many levels
