Yup, the generation that sees the birth pangs beginning will see the fulfillment of them.
Jesus was talking about the future in His discourse. He was talking about the generation alive during that future time, not the one He was living in.
It takes deliberate misinterpretation of Scripture to claim that Jesus’ whole discourse was about future generations, and then for one sentence He was talking about the folks He was living with, and then jumped back to talking about future generations again.
Proper interpretation of ANYTHING does not allow for that kind of inconsistency.

The point is, Jesus was quite specific that no one knows, will know, the date of his return. All this interpretation of today’s events is a waste of time. It will happen when it happens and it will happen as a ‘thief in the night’.
