Good Morning, Dan.
Ah. Well. ummmm. You responded to yesterday’s thread before you posted today’s. I guess I mistook that for a re-posting yesterday’s thread. I’m blaming caffeine deprivation, I am.
Actually, Leon, I don't "choose" any topics at all. I consider the entire Bible and all its topics to be important and worthwhile, but I can only post those incidents where artists have provided sufficient art to make a thread. So, my selection process is simple: if I find at least sixteen or eighteen illustrations, my arbitrary minimum, then we're in business.
Mary-Lou!
God invented coffee beans.
“She had good looks - God knows - and coal black hair.”
I’m noticing that most of the portraits show she had red hair. And as we all know, we cannot trust a cunning redheaded woman. They will “tireyou to death.”
Their Bible has 81 books, they didn't prune it down to 73 books of the Catholic bible, nor 66 books of the Protestant Bible.
The caffeine kept them going to transcribe them all...
I’m happy with my 66. We rely on the Spirit, not the caffeine He created, to animate us.
Hedy Lamarr - brains & beauty! It's a head-scratcher for me, to understand how she could be so 'scatter-brained' about men, marriages, and love! (She is actually appropriate on a Samson thread - given his problems with wimmenz!)
#19, Matthias Stom - he has become one of my favorites!
I like sculptures, esp at #33!
And from your lips she drew the “Hallelujah”.
Apparently, Hedy was a fool for love.
I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me, I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
I could see, that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I crossed the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah, I just couldn’t take anymore
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me, Delilah, I just couldn’t take anymore
Forgive me, Delilah, I just couldn’t take anymore
YIKES!!!
Brains and beauty is right! She is in the Inventor’s Hall of Fame for helping to invent technology during WWII which eventually led to our modern GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Look her up on Wikipedia.
I learned about this many years ago, thanks to Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story”.
I find females with brains attractive (not intimidating).
Not from her generation, but boy! I would've been a sucker for her love.
It's just sad to me...
I always thought Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was about David and Bathsheba, however Samson and Delilah is a perfect fit.
And she was a True Patriot! Not like these idiot Hollywood people today.
