JAMES TISSOT: "What Our Lord Saw from the Cross"
Outstanding. Thank you!
I’ve NEVER seen THIS work before ! POWERFUL !
I’ve visited Jerusalem twice. Stayed in the Old City both times.
My wife and I have been to the two most popular destinations for the distinction of being Jesus’s tomb. Several times, spending about an hour each visit.
Our hostel room one time was just down the street from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We waited in a long line there and entered the tiny space that historically has been described as HIS tomb. A Monk was seated there. It was lit by candles. I said a prayer and tried to feel the presence of the LORD. Something didn’t feel right. We spent about a minute in the tomb. The entire experience felt like a ride at DisneyLand.
Visiting the Garden Tomb was a Spiritual Blessing ! It was a simple, uncluttered site. NO crowds. There was a sense of Peace and Humility about it all. It spoke of the Messiah. My wife and I were in the tomb by ourselves. We had all the time we wanted. As I read from my Bible ( see Mk. 15-16, Jn. 20 ) I felt that it was VERY likely that The Garden Tomb was the PLACE where Christ was interred. You can SEE the shape of a human skull in the rocks on the site ! ( Sorry I don’t know how to post photos ) Having said THAT, I confess that it is really NOT important if that was THE tomb - I knew, geographically, that the tomb had to be CLOSE to wherever I was in Jerusalem.
PRAISE the LORD !
