What makes Athanasius a final authority on the canon of Scripture? The Tome of Damasus (AD 382) accepts all of the deuterocanonical OT books, including the ones you mention. What makes Athanasius’ authority superior to that of Pope Damasus?

Different issue. I was responding to a post that said the rejection of the apocrypha was a modernist phenomenon and pointed out Athanasius‘ quote in refutation.

You have Luther yes, Luther quoting from and using Deutero scripture, which he would later reject -

Luther's entire position now depends on, and supported by Jerome's uncertainty with the Deutero.(Although Jerome correctly yields to Church authority to accept Deutero books.
Jerome's uncertainty is unknowingly due to demonic work of Rabbi Akiva in the 2nd century trashing the Septuagint - as a means to DISCREDIT Christianity which was quickly growing- and a threat to Judaism.
Along comes some Qumran kids and lo and behold we learn: Jerome was wrong on the Deutero - and so ALSO Luther is wrong to rely on Jerome..
And the Septuagint was exonerated !
Those who line up against Pope Damasus line up against Christianity and stand WITH the 2nd century evil in Judaism that falsely denied it.
