Just read a book, Gay Christian,Coles. He came to the conclusion the only way to live a life of Christ with those feelings is celibacy. I understand that.
I don’t know about being in a place of leadership in the church though. I don’t know about rationalizing and bending the Word for their benefit. We used to get high and use I John 1:9 and called Greasy Grace Christians. And that’s what we were.
Paul’s letter to Timothy explicitly limits who may be an elder or a deacon.
1 Timothy 3: 2 A bishop [elder] then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1 Timothy 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
