This is not original with me but relayed by a Christian minister from a Russian brother in Christ.
It’s a start, but a few thousand in a country of 150 million isn’t going to bring change. It will take hundreds of thousands.
I pray for all ordinary people whose loves are being harmed by the actions of tyrants. We have plenty of both categories here in the USA as well as in Russia and Ukraine.
Russia is an Orthodox Christian nation (or was before 1917). Not [Roman] Catholic.
Prayer request ping.
Do you have a credible source for this? By all accounts he is heavily accommodating and promoting the Russian Orthodox Church which, historically, is extremely exclusionary of all other forms of Christianity in Russia.

Who alive in 2022 “worships” Putin? You guys and your rhetoric smh.
I’ve been thinking the same things and how important it is to forgive our enemies, to forgive trespasses against us and to bless those who know not what they do.
His request gives me more focus and helps me find my perspective.
For me, this has been an especially difficult challenge, but a deal’s a deal: “Forgive me as I forgive.” And I say this to Him every day, too, so I have to do it.
Therefore, it’s especially important for me to remember these now during these current trials and tests of faith, patience, love, hope, charity and courage.
I know He will get us through it and I know our reward will be greater than our losses if we keep our faith and trust in Him no matter what comes.
I know it’s true and if we look for His Hand in all things and we’ll “see” Him. We’re on His time, not ours. He’s got this.
All I have to do is “Love God and love people”, just like in the Danny Gokey song.
We're living in a world that keeps breakin'
“But if we want to find a way to change it
It all comes down to this
Love God and love people.”
Simple, right?
What has really hit home for me is that it’s basically governments doing the warring.
The people are just caught up in what their leadership does and really have precious little say in it.
We’re supposed to be a representative republic, and look how much we are capable of doing. Next to nothing, realistically.
But prayer is what is needed. Absolutely for the little people getting crushed by the powers that be, but we also need to pray for repentance and salvation for the leaders. Sure, they have done evil, but they are not necessarily beyond redemption. Nebuchadnezzar was cut down to size and I’ll bet no one thought God could reach him either.
IMO, it’s not likely that many, if any will see the error of their ways and repent, nevertheless, that is God’s responsibility. Our part is to be obedient and do the praying and leave the results up to God.
And FWIW, my praying for them does not mean I like them, support them, or approve of what they are doing. I am not praying for them to be successful in the evil they are perpetuating.
Simple.
But not easy.
I will definitely pray.
There are more than a few here on FR.
FATHER GOD,
Thank You that You hear our prayers and answer our prayers. May HOLY SPIRIT give us unction in how to pray.
Thank You for Holy Spirit Who helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. - Romans 8:26
Your Will be done in Ukraine and Russia. May there be a peaceful resolution to this war that is pleasing to You.
In JESUS’ Name we pray. AMEN.
I take your point. Many German people fully endorsed Hitler’s scourge of the Jewish people . . . in fact, encouraged it. There were some Poles and Ukrainians that vigorously cooperated in the Jew’s capture and death. Some of this may well be divine payback for the sins of the fathers.
Putin is attempting to replace their orthodox church with his country’s orthodox (which is about 9/10’s Catholic).
According to sources in Ukraine, this is Russia’s plan:
Kiev is expected to be surrounded by morning. No electricity, no extra food.
The Russians will arrest members of parliament
Will bring pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovych (ousted in 2014) to run the country ‘Until the Election’
Russia’s demands Ukraine to recognize the annexation of the Crimean peninsula, recognition of the independence of the separatist provinces, full demilitarization, abolished the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (for the Russians, only theirs is legitimate).
I confess, it’s a tough test for me to pass, but with Him, all things are possible, even this … I keep reminding my ‘self’.
Meaning the new home of the Russian Orthodox church, not Roman Catholic.
If Putin was really in favor of religious freedom he would protect it for those outside the KBG-linked Russian Orthodox church.

Putin, not the Russian people or soldiers, is the villain here. Their blood is on his hands too. Pray this horror is over, Putin is popped off and better days for Russia and Ukraine are ahead.
