Odd, in my parish we just started reciting the prayer to St. Michael a few months ago, at the end of every Mass.
My parish has been doing this for as long as I can recall, the priest leads it. In a former life I used to travel frequently and I liked to attend mass when I could. There were only two places I attended mass that finished with the prayer to St. Michael.
The first was McDill AFB in Tampa, I went to mid day mass several times. They had a big statue of St Michael behind the alter, made my day. The second was at Ft Leavenworth in Kansas for a well attended Sunday mass.
We’ve been saying it after every Mass for a few years. I bet we won’t stop even if our pastor doesn’t lead us. He doesn’t tell us to offer each other a sign of peace anymore since CoVid, but we all turn to each other and wave hello, sometimes people fist bump, and even others still shake hands. So I don’t think this is going anywhere in my parish. Time will tell.
