Uh, because it's the same organization, albeit with a new name, with the same exact personnel,

Um, nope. FSB is quite different from NKVD. You need to read up on some history.

albeit with new recruits doing things like killing journalists investigating war crimes and Putin corruption on Vladimir Putin's birthday?

You want me to give you a list of people murdered by the FBI?

Um, nope. FSB is quite different from NKVD.

... Why? It is the direct successor. It even operates out of the same building as the NKVD and the later KGB: the Lubyanka.

Yes, there are a great deal of name changes and reorganizations throughout soviet history. The KGB was officially formed in 1953 out of the MVD, which in turn had once been split between the MVD (ministry of internal affairs) and the MGB into the MVD, which in turn had been the MGKB, and before that the NKVD, and on and on and on back to the VChK. In 1991, Yeltin, the then head of the KGB started the process again with new organizations eventually leading to the FSB.

Again, it is the same organization, all operated out of the Lubyanka. Putin had been a Colonel in the KGB. His comrades were in the KGB and are now part of the FSB, and the FSB in turn now possesses a super majority of government posts in the Russian government.

“We are in power again, this time forever.”   —Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister, speaking before an audience of FSB agents, Moscow, 1999

“We did not reject our past. We said honestly: ‘The history of the Lubyanka in the twentieth century is our history….’”   —Nikolai Patrushev, Director of the FSB, from an interview in Komsomolskaya Pravda, December 20, 2000, the Day of the FSB

Cited from:

Felshtinsky, Yuri; Pribylovsky, Vladimir. The Putin Corporation: The Story of Russia's Secret Takeover (Kindle Locations 365-373). Gibson Square. Kindle Edition.

You need to read up on some history.

I just quoted you some. I've got plenty of other books on the subject of the KGB ranging from I Led Three Lives (discussing communist infiltration in the USA by the KGB), to Golitsyn or Suvorov, to books like the above. Thanks for outing yourself as a poser pretending to know WTF they're talking about when really they don't know jack shit.
