Otherwise he would be disqualifying himself from the priesthood."He does more than that, for the apostle is describing a father with children (versus wives stuck on The Pill) pastoring his own family well as being a positive preparation for pastoring the church, while in any case Paul is not requiring presbuteros/episkopos (which were not that of Catholic priests) to be celibate.
