Didn't add a thing to my DNA, just defeated it. Without it I would have been dead long ago so stuff it.

Modern medicine did not defeat your DNA. Modern medicine just got around your DNA, and you are/were still programmed to die at a certain age.

Read up on telomeres.

Telomeres are related to aging, and research is trying to overcome the effect that telomeres have on aging, but you are still born with a predefined telomere length, as are all humans. Extending the aging process, via telomers interference or some other medical procedure, will not stop you or me or anybody from dying at around the predefined age in your DNA.

Then why am I still alive? My DNA had me programmed to die and I didn't so why is DNA the final determining factor.

Having said that I have observed statements by the oldest people they can find like 110 plus and I find one thing that they all have in common. When they were asked what do they attribute their long life to, about the only thing they had in common is they were old, nothing more, not diet, exercise, religious belief, nothing.
