Just guessing...it (the footprints) seems to suggest He really was here, in the flesh, see what He left behind!

It seem sthat They had preserved the spot where he was sta ding, and built a temple there I guess, they claimed to have the rock that cnrkst stood on when he ascended, so that probably plays into the paintings placement of them
