GOSPEL of JOHN
Chapter 20, Verses 11-18
Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

But "little" is not "nothing", and every such discovery adds to the thoughtful believer's joy, as he savors yet another of the innumerable elements of the richness of God's Word. Your contribution enhanced my joy today.
To continue to belabor, I knew the term with regard to baseball, but I’d never heard it applied metaphorically to the Bible!
“Are you familiar with Christian astrophysicist and apologist Dr. Hugh Ross, or his science/faith think tank, Reasons to Believe?”
Extremely. I’ve been reading his books for over 20 years. He did what I yearned to do in 90s: create a valid, testable, scientific proposition based upon the Bible. I think they’re around 90% successful in their prediction rates over the past 25 years.
Not only me, but my daughter has been very active in apologetics and Reasons to Believe since she was in college in 2008.
Hugh was Minister of Evangelism (the stories he tells!) and an Elder, and he taught a Sunday class which I loved attending. He is still teaching it, and I still attend online (log in here, past videos here).
In '85 the senior pastor encouraged Hugh to start the fulltime ministry, and Hugh and Kathy founded it out of their apartment. Curiously, around the same time next door in Arcadia, James Dobson started Focus on the Family--we got to watch both ministries take off.
Finally, one last inside baseballism: Hugh's first scholar-hire was staff philosopher Ken Samples, who drove a truck for me in the early '80s while attending college; I recommended Hugh to Ken while he was on-staff at The Bible Answer-Man.
Very cool! Now I know someone who knows someone famous before they were famous! Although Hugh and Cathy seem to be down-to-earth people from what I’ve read of them.
You also all seem to be about the same age: in your 70s. I’m in my 60s, but I have no fear of the 70s!
