Love #16 by Batoni, a favorite of mine. Guercino, Murillo, Tissot, Dore’, a wonderful procession of artists. I was scratching my head on the De Chirico who was too surrealistic to have painted that. In fact it is a painting in a Vienna Church by Carl Johann Hemerlein. I will refrain to post the De Chirico painting which is, in my personal opinion, too absurd.
Did I tell you how much I appreciate these pages and the enormous work you do on them? BRAVO!

Good Morning!

Once again, I love Tissot’s interpretation, especially with the nosy neighbors looking on at the father and son’s totally unabashed moment of emotional reunion.

And then there is the Prodigal son's brother, whose reaction was not rooted in love, but we can all relate too...

The prodigal brother...

I looked #6 up, as I liked the 'softness' of the scene...eta scores again!

I liked Bassano, #8. He uses symbolism a LOT!...and I noticed his 'slaughtered calf' uhhh...front and center? (in yo face!), along with an abundance of food (riches) all over the painting.

#17 well shows how emaciated the son was.

One sermon about this that stuck with me over the years...the pastor emphasized the father's running, and # 12, Weenix at least hints a little at that.

So many excellent works here...thanks Danny boy!
