The Roman Catholic doctrine of Papal Infallibility tells us that a Pope is only protected by the Holy Spirit from errors when he speak Ex-Cathedra, i.e , from the Chair of St. Peter and only on Ecclesiastical Doctrine that affects matters of Faith and Practice.

I am not Catholic, but have been observing the pope since I got int erested in this doctrine of Papal Infallibility. I have NOT YET seen any Pope speak Ex-Cathdra in my lifetime.

Because you 1) Too the time to read on what the 1870 Definition of Papal Infallibility is and 2) When it has been used.

The Council of Trent in 1563 restricted numerous versions of the Roman Rite (Liturgies). Only ones that had been in place I think since 200 years prior to the Council were allowed to still be celebrated. So for example the Ambrosian Rite in Milan Italy is still celebrated there, the Mozarabic is still celebrated in Iberia.

What is being talked about her of course is the Missal for the the Mass from the Council of Trent which was first codified in 1570, 7 years after the Council.

The entire confusion goes back to Latin. The Council of Trent said very little about Language, all It said was in response to the Protestants that anyone who says that the Liturgy can “only be celebrated in the vernacular” (which is what the Reformers were saying and was obviously a direct attack on the Catholic Liturgy) was anathema. The Council of Trent never said celebrating the Liturgy in the vernacular was forbidden or anathama nor did it say it had to be celebrated in Latin.

At the Council of Trent, there were Eastern Catholic Churches in Communion with Rome who celebrated Liturgies
in Languages other than Latin. The Maronite Catholics in Lebanon used Aramaic and Arab. The Byzantine Eastern Churches in Sicily and Southern mainland Italy used Greek, etc, etc.

Its doubtful that you will. Most all of the major Ecclesiastical doctrinal matters have been decided long, long ago.

When I see the words "infallible Pope" written I just assume its another low IQ attack on the Catholic faith with the author having very little knowledge of what he is talking about.

It's all so tiresome.
