To: Hebrews 11:6

After going through both threads on this topic, I’m struck by:

1) The similarity of poses. The adulteress is downcast with her arms crossed against her breasts. Jesus is looking down and writing, or looking at the accusers, saying, “Let he without sin cast the first stone.” Or He is looking at the adulteress, “Where are your accusers? Has no one condemned you.” I still wonder who copied whom.
2) The lack of middle-eastern clothing in many of the paintings. Neither Jesus nor the accusers generally have tassles or the middle-eastern tunics or robes.
3) The setting. I always imagined this in the court of the temple, outside, but some depictions have it inside. The lack of dust and dirt on the floor is incongruous to me as well. Lots of people in sandals, lots of animals, I think would keep dust and dirt on the floor, even with daily sweeping.
4) Note the scripture is John 8:2-11, not Luke. The speculation of how this was ‘added’ to John makes me think John himself added it to his original draft of the gospel after copies had been made of his first draft. One more question to be answered in the Kingdom.

Thanks, Jeff. When you ask your questions there, I’ll probably have preceded you and already asked. But I know you won’t settle for my answers. No, you’ll want to get your answers straight from the, well, the Horse’s mouth.
