So many to like! #8, Caravaggio with an unusual young and beardless Jesus listening to Peter. #7 & #9, Ghirlandaio. One of the frescoes, part of the cycle of Christ life, of the walls of the Sistine Chapel. Ghirlandaio was very skilled in portraits but also in depiciting landscapes. The Sea of Galilee is surrounded by hills and mountains, snaking its way like a river. The group of people on the right represent members of the most influential families of Florence. At their left is another scene with Christ calling on James and John who are mending their nets with Zebedee.
#10, Basaiti An Italian Renaissance artist - This painting has an beautifully detailed and expansive landscape.
#21 Love this Tissot -
I like also #23 and #32 + all the stained glass windows!
In preparing these threads I see all the images many times, but I always take periodic tours through the whole group, appreciating what I can. Your posts, and others’, help me see more, so no matter how often I’ve toured through them I gain more—fresh eyes.
