The rabbi here is only seeing the dark side. A famous 17th century rabbi known as the Kli Yakar foresaw a righteous Esau at the End of Days, and a popular rabbi today, Mendel Kessin, has spoken many times about “the good that is in Esau”.
Esau was, in fact, very gracious and forgiving to Jacob in the end, when Jacob returned after the long sojourn with Laban’s family. So I agree with you and Rabbi Kessin about “the good that is in Esau”.
Sometimes, the prophecies in the Torah are the very events and stories that are presented within. The story of Jacob and Esau is about twin brothers who had a falling out and then a reconciliation. Perhaps there is a prophecy in there, or maybe it’s just a wonderful family story. Either way, it is true and wonderful, and teaches us about forgiveness and reconciliation.
The Story of the Patriarch Joseph (also in Genesis) has a similar theme.
I guess I am confused about “Esau”. Person or nation? Anyway, the letters U-S-A really fly out of that.
