I have a friend who is a good Catholic. I asked him if he reads his bible. He said he reads the gospels and anything Paul wrote. I said what about everything else, and, the OT (Daniel) or Revelation in the NT. He said “nope”. I told him that’s not uncommon because it is those two chapters that specifically condemn the Catholic Church as the Antichrist power so I could see how he would avoid them like the plague. He said he wasn’t around for any of that and no matter what they say he listens to his priest and goes to mass, and that’s good enough for him. He is a typical Catholic. I’ll have to ask him if he considers himself a Christian or a “Catholic”.

we will ALL be faced with a decision to choose God or denounce God. That time is near. Those that label themselves Christians without surrendering their will to Jesus Christ are in peril.

Whoah !! Why on earth would you associate with a whore praising, harlot worshipping anti-Christ idolater such as a Catholic? And to be friends? Integrity aside, you better be careful Philly....

But what you could have reminded your scripturally OT deficient “good Catholic” of was that they celebrate the liturgy of the Word- OT/NT at Mass – though not the same at daily Mass. (but Sirach is on for next month- so stay tuned)
You could have told your friend that Scriptural liturgy in the Mass companions the NT Gospel Liturgy with THE OT-AND also - an Epistle reading that usually complement each other- as those Catholics believe the OT foreshadows the NT - and the NT fulfils the OT…. So there’s a lot going on there then just “reading your bible” with those guys.

You mention your friend avoids certain readings "like a plague" – yet their Church Canon has remained the same for over a thousand years, while most others require an after-the-fact edited version.
And yes- we know those misguided Catholics don’t study the good book - on average- as others do, they think they enjoy fulfilment from the Sacramental Graces given to them by God. They claim Christ never said to read his book- or else be a bad “Christian”…. they think the 2 commandments to follow are primary.…

Since your friend, not being the OT scholar such as yourself – you could have explained to him what Isaiah meant here and why he should know it:

4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.
And:

4When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst
by a spirit of judgment --AND-- by a spirit of burning.

Theres the second thingy again Philly - IN THE OT !!!
- remember... NOR in the world to come

300 or bust Mr. Yeller!!!!!!!!!
