Wonderful! In some paintings we see that the only light seems to emanate from the infant Jesus, a light so bright to illuminate the entire scene. In others, especially those from the early Netherlandish and Renaissance art, we see ruins all around, lot of symbolism there. With the birth of Christ, the old pagan world collapses in decaying ruins, it’s the promise of deliverance from a violent past, a sign of hope for humanity. Merry Christmas in April!
