Well I found a list on wiki but I think it needs some editing since some of these films are comedies and not sure how reverent or even remotely respectful the movies were. I’ll admit a bunch of them I’m completely unaware of although certainly others I’ve seen. At least The Chosen is in there.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_actors_who_have_played_Jesus
At least the third time I’ve posted that image, so I’m with you.
Well, I do appreciate both your suggestion and your legwork, but do remember the Spirit gets the final say. Perhaps you can persuade Him....
I’ll work on that. :)
I counted 71. I noticed the pace has accelerated greatly in recent years.
Welcome back! I’ve missed your posts.
First thing I noticed about your genealogy, is that you combined Matthew’s and Luke’s. Luke goes to Adam, Matthew only to Abraham
Second thing I noticed is that you took Matthew’s genealogy after David. Matthew’s goes through Solomon, while Luke’s goes through Nathan.
The most frequent explanation of the two different genealogies is that Matthew’s belongs to Joseph, while Luke’s belongs to Mary
careful reading indicates Isaac was at least in his 20s when he accompanied Abraham to the place of sacrifice.
As far as I know--as the Lord wills--I'm in for the long haul. And I have this point of reference for that phrase "long haul": my adult Sunday school teacher, Dr. Hugh Ross, spent seven years explicating Revelation. The class, he enjoys remarking, wound up calling it their Great Tribulation.
So, whatever it takes....
I agree completely. Were I, on single-subject threads rather than a polymorph like this one, to post only those paintings faithful to my understanding of the text, the pickings would be far slimmer.
No kidding. From the description, it sure looks like King David was Mars:
1 Chr 22
7. And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God:
8. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, You have shed abundant blood, and have made great wars; you shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood upon the earth in my sight:
9. Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies around; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days:
10. He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever:
And yet Solomon’s brother Nathan finds his way to messianic prominence.
Dr. Hugh Ross is one of my favorite authors and ministers with his Reasons to Believe ministry. I can well believe he’s exceedingly thorough, having a scientific, detailed mind.
I have created a 90 page study of Revelation, where I catalog everything that is said in that book. From that, I’ve made two Bible studies: one on what the book says and on on the meaning of the symbols.
Wow! That is great!
🙂
Your Revelation study sounds interesting, Jeff. Is it publicly available?
A different format to cover this unusual subject. Back to “normalcy” tomorrow.
I just thought of something. Can we send files on FR email?
Would it be possible to get an email address?
I believe I appreciate the discussion more than the artwork, but please add me to the ping list.
It’s a few Word and powerpoint documents. I’ll be happy to send it to you on request.
You are, I believe, the first to say that; but the standard response is, “Whatever floats your boat.” I’ve just now added you, as you will discover in a moment.
