Thanks, Mark.
I would like to know from any former Catholics if there was a yearly study plan for reading the Bible and if the Pauline Epistles were studied. TIA
In the Catholic religion?
None.
We were told growing up that we shouldn’t read the Bible because we couldn’t understand it. Only those so trained, ie priests and nuns, could and if we had questions, we should ask them and they’d explain it to us.
We did have a Catholic Bible at home and a snuck a peek into it every once in a while. Nad I don’t even remember now what I was reading, but deed, it didn’t make any sense. But then again, I could have been reading Ezekiel or something.
I can’t speak for other Catholics. Only for myself. I was never given ANY suggestions for reading the Bible. They stressed that I needed a priest to interpret it for me. Since I didn’t have a priest at my beck and call, I didn’t read it. Later, when I was already in the Air Force, I got evangelized, and gave up on the Catholic Church. I am comfortable with that. 👍😁
